601ST INFANTRY (UNIFIER) BRIGADE CAMPAIGNED COVENANT OF HOPE FOR MAY 2010 ELECTION
The 601st Infantry (Unifier) Brigade of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division Philippine Army continues to live up to its name “Unifier” in its new area of responsibility which it took over from the 104th Infantry (Sultan) Brigade on 22 December 2009.
With the brainchild of the 601st Commander COLONEL LEO CRESENTE M FERRER INF (GSC) PA, the COMELEC Provincial Joint Security Control Center (JSCC) of Lanao Del Norte was able to come up with a campaign for the Covenant of HOPE (Honest-Orderly-Peaceful-Election) for all the political candidates of different parties vying for elective position this coming 10 May 2010 local and national election.
On 04 February 2010, the campaign started in the municipality of Linamon where Atty Joseph Hamilton M Cuevas, Provincial Election Supervisor, COLONEL LEO CRESENTE M FERRER INF (GSC) PA, 601st Commander, representative of P/SSUPT ORLANDO A BEÑAS, Provincial Director together with the Ulama and Priest of Linamon and other Civil Society Organization as well as the people in the community witnessed the actual signing of the Covenant at Linamon Auditorium.
Significant to note is the joint signing of the Covenant for the municipalities of Matungao, Pantao Ragat and Poona Piagapo all known election hotspots of the province on 22 February 2010 at Headquarters 601st Brigade. Among the attendees are Atty Renato A Magbutay, COMELEC Regional Election Director, Ms Marilou S Nanaman, Director MSU-IIT IPDM, Prof Musa Sanguila, Director Pakigdait, Religious, Media other LGUs, NGOs, CSOs, different Political candidates and parties and other interest groups. Other highlights of the campaign are Prescint Count Optical Scan demonstrations, Information disseminations and other election related issues and concerns as well as peace and security issues.
The campaign initiated by this unit had been successfully completed on 24 February 2010 with high hope that this coming election is the most credible honest, orderly and peaceful national and local elections conducted in the whole province of Lanao Del Norte. A total of twenty-two (22) municipalities and one (1) city political candidates and parties affixed their signatures and support of the said campaign.
